Make Your Mornings Magical

Make Your Mornings Magical

Let’s be real. Sometimes it’s hard to pull yourself out of bed at 7am on a dark, cold morning. Five more minutes in dreamland sounds like absolute bliss - except it’s not. Five minutes turns into half an hour and all of a sudden the planned healthy breakfast is out the window, mascara is applied while brushing your teeth and you are most definitely not off to the right start to your day. Trust me, I know the feeling all too well. But fear not, Nonna Diary is here to help you make your mornings magical!

Waking Up on Time

The key to having a great morning is giving yourself enough time so that you don’t need to rush. Obviously, getting enough sleep is crucial too. We’ll be sharing lots of tips to get those quality ZZZs in our next blog post. If you’re anything like me, waking up in the morning can be a little bit of hassle. I’ve recently started using an alarm app called Alarmy. It’s an alarm clock that allows you to set different ringtones to wake you up (I use one of the ‘super loud’ sounds). The cool thing about Alarmy is that you can set yourself different challenges each morning such as scanning a QR code, playing a memory game or doing a few math problems. You have to complete the challenge to turn off the alarm. This is a sure fire way to get you up and at ‘em in the early hours.

Me Time

Okay, so now you’re up. It can be tempting to reach for the coffee machine first thing, but you’ll feel much better if you hydrate first. Grab a glass of water (warm water with lemon works well also) and have a little screen free ‘me time’. This doesn’t have to be a huge ordeal. You could read a few pages of a book, meditate or journal. We love our Two Way Morning/Night Journal for this. It’s more beneficial to spend a few minutes with your thoughts first thing in the morning instead of scrolling through Instagram.

Food is Fuel

You might not be a ‘breakfast person’, but it’s really important to try to eat something substantial in the morning to set you up for your day. Skipping out on the most important meal of the day has been proven to make you more likely to overeat later on in the day too, so if you’re trying to eat healthily it’s pretty essential. Now, we don’t mean that you need to be whipping up insta-worthy avocado toast every morning but something quick like fruit & yogurt can help you get off to a great start. Overnight oats are also a great option, you can prep a few days worth at a time and then it really is just a matter of grabbing a spoon and digging in in the morning.

Glam Smarter, Not Harder

Since working from home has become common for a lot of us, there is minimal getting ready time needed in the morning. But, if you’re headed to the office or just want to look and feel more put together, it doesn’t have to be a huge ordeal in the morning. The key to getting out the door quickly, but still looking good is…organization. You can take half of the struggle out of mornings by having as much ready the night before as possible. Lay out your clothes, have all of your skincare/makeup essentials ready to go and have your lunch already packed. It might sound a little ridiculous or juvenile, but if you do this once you’ll see how much more relaxed and calm your morning becomes.

Let us know if you incorporate any of our tips into your morning routine and be sure to check back for our next blog which is all about ways that you can make your night time routine work better for you!
